An Alpena man with seven prior convictions for drunk driving was picked up again over the weekend.

Two state police troopers were on patrol early Sunday morning, when they saw a man exhibiting signs of intoxication climb onto an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and drive off.

They eventually caught up to the ATV which was parked at a nearby residence.  They also found 46 year-old Elliot Betterly lying on the front porch.

The subsequent investigation revealed Betterly was intoxicated and did not have a valid license.  In addition, he was on probation and has seven prior convictions for operating while intoxicated.

In addition to drunk driving, Betterly has been charged with operating on a suspended license and habitual offender.  Bond was set at $25,000.

Betterly was sentenced for drunk driving in August of last year, and spent time in prison on the same offense from 2010-2012.
