Volunteers will be cleaning up along US 23 south of Alpena this month, as part of an 8th annual clean-up day organized by the non-profit group South Bay Alpena.

Residents who want to pitch in should meet in the parking lot of the former Kmart store on Tuesday, June 25 at 9 a.m. People who have them should bring along shovels, brooms, trash bags, water and gloves.

Volunteers will be cleaning up along both sides of the highway from Mich-e-ke-wis Park to south of Pine Road.

The rain date for the clean-up effort is Wednesday, June 26.
