The Rogers City Hurons softball won their 8th straight district title. The Hurons defeated JoBurg in the semifinals 1-0 and then beat Hillman 7-2 in the finals. To get to the finals, Hillman defeated Atlanta 12-1.

Alpena’s softball team beat TC Central 10-8 to win the district championship. The Wildcats beat Gaylord in the semifinals 13-1.

The JoBurg Cardinals baseball team defeated Rogers City in the semifinals 8-0 and then Hillman 6-4 to win the district final championship. Hillman defeated Atlanta 13-0 to face JoBurg.

Alpena’s baseball team lost their semifinal matchup with TC Central 1-0.

The Alpena Wildcat track and field team had a great showing at the Division 1 finals Saturday in East Kentwood. Eli Winter won a state title in discus and had an all state finish in the shot put. Gabe Bullis took the title in pole vault. The boys team finished third as a team and had all state placers in five events. All state honors are given to the top eight athletes and teams in each event. Aden Smith finished second in the 3,200. Josh Smith took 8th in the 1,600. Faith Weide finished 6th in the shot put.

At the Division 4 finals in Hudsonville, Lily Bilbey from Alcona earned all state honors in the 100 dash and 200 dash, finishing runner up in both events. Also from Alcona, John Sharboneau finished 7th in the discus earning all state honors. Rogers City’s Luke Augsburger finished 7th in the high jump and earning all state honors as well.
