Amateur bakers are invited to enter a pie baking contest at the Alpena County George N. Fletcher Public Library in June.

Author Lisa Ludwinski, owner and head baker at Sister Pie in Detroit will be the guest author and judge for the event.

Pies will be judged on overall appearance, crust, filling, and of course, taste. They must be of the dessert variety, not savory pies; and crusts must be homemade. Entries will be judged in two categories: Young adults ages 12 – 17, and adults age 18 and older.

The contest is being held on Saturday, June 1. Pies must be presented between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Judging will held from noon to 1 p.m., and winners will be announced shortly thereafter.

Entry forms can be picked up at the library or printed off the library’s website. The entry fee is $5. Forms must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 25. Official rules can be found on the library’s website.
