It will cost over $65,000 to repair a water main break on Genshaw Road, and that’s down from an original estimate of nearly $84,000.

The project will get underway on Monday. (MAY 20)

A temporary repair was completed late last year, just north of Long Rapids Road.

The project includes replacement of a section of water main and about 400 feet of roadway. The City of Alpena will pay MacArthur Construction of Hillman, the lone bidder, $65,170 to make the repair.

Beginning Monday, Genschaw will be closed to all through traffic from Long Rapids Road to Princeton Street, requiring motorists to seek an alternate route.

The work is expected to be completed within two weeks unless there are construction or weather delays.
