Two deputies with the Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Office made a road trip to Arkansas over the weekend, to transport four young fugitives back to town.

The sheriff’s office first got involved when it started looking for two men wanted by the Straits Area Narcotics Enforcement (SANE) team – 20 year-old Kaleob Stewart of Alanson and 20 year-old Michael Martin of Mackinaw City.

The two men were found in Lonoke County Arkansas last week, along with two women who were wanted for crimes committed in Cheboygan – 21 year-old Nicole Mahar of Mackinaw City and Courtney Shiflett.

Mahar was wanted on a probation violation stemming from a methamphetamine conviction; and Shiflett violated probation on a conviction of assaulting, restricting or obstructing a police officer.

Stewart and Martin both skipped town before their cases could be resolved. They are both accused of selling drugs.

All four fugitives arrived back in Cheboygan Monday morning and are in jail awaiting their next court appearance.
