Alpena County Undersheriff Terry King has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

Sheriff Steve Kieliszewski had no comment on the suspension, calling it a “personnel matter.”

He also would not comment on how long the investigation might take.

King, who learned of the suspension Tuesday, also had no comment.  He was forced to turn in his badge, gun, keys and personal identification card; and is prohibited from being on any county grounds unless it is a personal matter or he has prior approval from the Sheriff.

County chairman Brad McRoberts was informed of the suspension Wednesday morning but said he couldn’t comment and that any statement would need to come from Kieliszewski.

King is a non-union salaried employee and has been with the department for just shy of 22 years.  He has served under Kieliszewski as the Undersheriff for the past 14 years.
