There are no immediate concerns on the horizon and the Alpena Country treasurer also says the county’s general fund budget is where she expected it to be two months into the fiscal year.

Kim Ludlow provided an overview of the budget to the finance committee this week.

She said the county spent approximately $1.82 million through February, and brought in about $1.08 million, leaving roughly $4.06 million in the general fund budget, or savings account.

She said revenues are up compared to last year but so are expenses.

“The budget is kinda right where I’d expect it to be,” Ludlow said.

The county started the fiscal year with an unaudited general fund balance of $4.8 million.  That fund will continue to be spent down through about July, when property taxes start to roll in and the fund starts to grow again.
