The board of education for Alpena Public Schools has extended the contracts of all administrators by one year, including building principals.

The move was made when the board met Monday evening.

Justin Gluesing, Assistant Superintendent for human resources and labor relations, said the contracts are all two-year agreements.  He said the one-year extensions do not include salary increases.

Only Superintendent John VanWagoner’s contract was not impacted by the vote.  His contract was extended one year, through June 30, 2022, last fall after he received a glowing annual performance evaluation from the board.

VanWagoner’s contract contains a clause that extends his contract by one year annually, if he receives a rating of ‘effective’ or higher on his yearly review.
