10 athletes from Alpena High sign letters of intent

A total of 10 athletes from Alpena High School have signed letters of intent with various colleges to also continue their athletic careers.

A special ceremony was held at Alpena High Monday, for students and their families.

Madelyn Boyd is headed to Central Michigan University for track and field and cross country; Aiden Day to Colorado Christian University for soccer; Emma Fraser to Alma College for softball; Jessica Leeck, Alexis Pilarski and Allison Precord are all headed to Alpena Community College for volleyball; bothers Aden and Joshua Smith are going to Michigan State University for track and field and cross country; Faith Weide to Western Michigan University for track and field; and Zachary Zaborney will be going to the University of Detroit Mercy for track and field.

Signing a letter of intent means students have committed to a college; the university has promised those students a scholarship; and schools can no longer recruit those athletes.
