Chamber names Bronwyn Woolman Citizen of the Year

A woman who raised 10 children of her own, provided a home to over 50 foster care kids, is active in her church and volunteers within the community has been named the 2018 Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce “Citizen of the Year.”

Bronwyn Woolman received the award during Thursday night’s annual chamber awards dinner event.

Woolman was also involved in the program Teen MOPS (Mother’s of Pre-Schoolers), created and developed a program on classical music entitled “The Composer’s Program, and has volunteered her time at Besser Elementary School, Salvation Army church, Alpena Civic and Thunder Bay theatres, Thunder Bay Arts Council, Friends of the Alpena County Library and more.  She has also been a troop leader in the Girls Scouts for over 40 years.

“Bronwyn is known throughout the Alpena community as a loving, polite, kind and above all, helpful individual who has dedicated her life to helping others,” said chamber officials.

The Business of the Year award was presented to Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union.  A list of other award winners can be viewed below.
