Parenting workshop on Tuesday

Submitted by on January 14, 2019 – 12:20 amNo Comment

A 90-minute parenting workshop is being held in Alpena Tuesday, with a focus on social-emotional health and social-emotional learning (SEL).

Officials at Partners In Prevention are hosting the workshop and say social-emotional health and social-emotional learning (SEL) are just as important to children as learning reading and math.

A five-member panel will discuss the topics at the workshop and give attendees access to decades of combined experience supporting children and families in home, school, and community settings.

Parents and others raising children have the opportunity to gain an understanding of what healthy interactions and emotional responses look like for various ages, what can delay social-emotional growth, and how to support its development.

The workshop is being held in the media center at Thunder Bay Junior High School beginning at 6 p.m.  Registration is requested by calling Partners In Prevention at 356-2880.  A limited number of free childcare slots for ages 1-10 are available.
