The all-time longest serving employee of the Alpena-Montmorency-Alcona Educational Service District (AMA EASD) is stepping down later this year.

Tony Suszek was hired 1979 and will have worked for the ESD for 40 years when he retires on June 30.

Suszek is the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Non-Instructional Services and has held four other positions over the years.  He notified the AMA ESD board of his retirement at its monthly meeting Thursday night.

Suszek said, “It has been a tremendous pleasure for me to work over the years at the AMA ESD and for the taxpayers and students of northeast Michigan.  This decision has been a hard one to make as I love the work we do at the AMA but I feel it is time for me to move forward to a new stage of my life.”

Suszek told True North Radio Network he has a lot of accomplishments to be proud of.   Four of them include: setting a very high standard at the ESD, clean audits at the local, State and Federal level; and “To never have been compromised on my ethics or morals and to work very hard for the taxpayers over the years.”

Suszek plans to continue to volunteer his time on various boards and committees after retirement.  But he will also take more time to relax, travel, exercise, hunt and fish.  He also plans to spend more time with his children who live in Chicago and Traverse City.
