Alpena County Regional Airport has officially topped 10,000 enplanements for the year.

That means the airport will be eligible to receive up to a $1 million subsidy through the federal government’s Essential Air Service (EAS) program.

A total of 914 enplanements were counted in November, an increase of 2-percent from November 2017.  That pushed the year to date total to 10,916 flyers, up 8.6-percent from the first 11 months of 2017.

Skywest Airlines enplanements are up about 7.1-percent on the year and charter flights are up roughly 35.6-percent.

Small airports that fall short of 10,000 enplanements annually qualify for up to a $150,000 subsidy.
