A presentation on the impact of homelessness on the local community and schools is being held at Alpena Community College Monday night.

The League of Women Voters of Alpena County says that although the overall rate of homelessness has decreased by a small amount, it is still a problem locally.

The director of the Sunrise Mission, Leslie Sheen, will present information on the homeless shelter, which has been helping the less fortunate for the past 26 years.  Vicki Denstaedt and Matt Poli of Alpena Public Schools will talk about the impact of homelessness on students and schools.

The presentation, which is open to the public, will be held inside room 126 of the Besser Tech Center starting at 7 p.m.
