LOCAL SPORTS FOR MONDAY 6-4-18

SOFTBALL

The Rogers City Hurons Softball team won their 7th consecutive district championship defeating Joburg 22-0 in the semifinal and then taking out Hillman 14-3 in the final. During the semifinal game against Joburg, the Hurons broke a state record with 9 homeruns. The Hurons will play Pellston in the Regionals Saturday at 10am. BASEBALL

The Onaway Cardinal baseball team defeated Hillman 1-0 to win the Division 4 district finals.

TRACK

The Alpena Wildcat track team eared allstate honors at the Division 1 state finals. All six Alpena athletes came home with all state honors. The 3200 relay team finished seventh but set a school record 7:55:45. Josh Smith set a new school record in the 1600 of 4:16:79, finishing 7th. Gabe Bullis set a new school pole vault record of 15 feet finishing 3rd. Faith Weide eared all state in the shot put finishing 7th.
There were allstate honors in division 4 too. Hillman’s Brandon Banks took 3rd in the 800. Billy Kolcan finished 3rd in the 300 hurdles, and tied for second in the high jump. Gunner Mellingen took 7th in the long jump. Rogers City’s Luke Augsburger finished 8th in the high jump. Alcona’s Lily Bilbey finished 6th in the 100 dash and 7th in the 200 dash.
