Evonne A. Barnard, age 83, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at her daughter’s home.

On March 3, 1935, Evonne was born in Lachine, Michigan to the late Clayton and Lillian (Walker) Cripps. She grew up on Cripp’s Family Fruit Farm, and enjoyed sharing the memories made, by reminiscing stories with family and friends. Evonne had an open door policy at her home which made her a great friend to confide in by being a great listener, advisor, and communicator, who was well liked by many. She was one of the first employees to work for Dial-A-Ride as a driver and a dispatcher for several years. She enjoyed cooking for several hunting camps, especially the Ridgeville Hunt Club. Evonne had a passion for gardening, flowers, nature, wildlife and her family, which she captured in several professional photographs. Her greatest photographic accomplishment was the photo that made the front of NE MI Travel Guide of her granddaughter. In her spare time she enjoyed being a seamstress, crocheting, knitting, needle point, and tatting, a German lace knot tying art. Evonne was a member of Free Methodist Church. She loved her family, grandchildren and friends; including those made at the Village Pines Facility.

She is survived by her three children: Rick (Starr) Barnard of Alpena, MI; Mark (Edna) Barnard of Chester, New Jersey; Jami (Richard) Tibbals of Mason, MI; six grandchildren: Sarah (Phil) Hainstock, Ryan Barnard, Jason Barnard, Elissa Barnard, Richelle Tibbals, Andrew Tibbals; two great-grandchildren: Colin and Sam Hainstock; and three brothers: Eldon Cripps of Alpena, MI; Harvey (Toshie) Cripps of Flint, MI; Francis (Chere) Cripps of Alpena, MI; along with several nieces and nephews, and her kitty Snowbell.

Evonne was preceded in death by her three sisters: Millie McHarg, Jeanne Kilbourne, and Mellidean King.

Family and friends will gather for memorial visitation on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 12 noon until the 2 pm Memorial Service begins with Pastor Richard George officiating at the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home.
