Three people have filed the paperwork as write-in candidates for the upcoming Alpena City Council election.
Two seats on council will be up for grabs during the general election on Tuesday, November 7.
Cindy Johnson has filed to retain her seat, but long-time councilman Shawn Sexton announced earlier this year that he will not seek another term.
No one filed as a candidate until the write-in period started.  The three candidates who have emerged since that time, and will be competing against Johnson for the two open seats, include Rick Rafferty, Amber Hess and Calvin Howard.
The filing deadline for write in candidates is 4 p.m. on Friday, October 27.
City council members serve 4-year terms.
