A craft beer festival with food and music is being planned for downtown Alpena in the fall.
It’s being organized by Eric Peterson, owner of The Fresh Palate.
He plans to hold the festival on Saturday, September 30, from 3 to 9 p.m. It will be held on a closed off section of Second Avenue, between Chisholm and River streets.
Peterson received permission to host the event when he stood before city council Monday night. He promised to provide security and porta potties.
Peterson noted that craft beer festivals are growing in popularity around the country, and many places have hosted them for years. He believes that in addition to all the fun, it will provide residents an opportunity to sample various craft beers as well as food from local restaurants.
Peterson plans to invite breweries from across Michigan. He is also booking two local bands to provide music.
