David Buszka

David Buszka, age 94 of East Long Lake, passed away November 8, 2014 at Alpena Regional Medical Center.
David was born on April 10, 1920 to the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Donajkowski) Buszka in Long Rapids township. On August 12, 1950 he married Eleanore Orban at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Metz, MI. David served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII for six years. After serving his country, David began his working career at General Motors in Flint and later Huron Portland Cement Company in the Power House for 28 years, retiring in 1982. David is a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 529, a life member of the 5th Division Marine Corps Association aas well as a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. While he lived in Flint, David had been a feather-weight boxer for the Golden Gloves of Flint, MI.
David is survived by his loving wife Eleanore of 64 years and their wonderful children; Gregory (Karen) Buszka of Cape Cod, MA; Valerie (Rob) Golding of Alpena, MI; Connie (Joe) Sobczak of Alpena, MI; and Wayne (Dorothy) Buszka of Presque Isle, MI; his grandchildren, Brenda (Mike) Nichols; Brandon Jaskolski; Aron (Samantha) Jaskolski; Malori (Noah) Grulke; Elysia (Steven) Lockwood; and his great-grandchildren, Natalie Jaskolski; James Tessmer; Bryce Jaskolski; Gracie Nichols; Zoey Grulke; Chelsey Jaskolski; and Austin Lockwood. David is also survived by his in-laws Len (Sophia) Orban; Mayvine (Julian) Gorlewski; Theresa Orban; and several nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his three brothers Louis Buszka, Ted Buszka, and John Buszka as well as his sister Sadie “Sally” Stoinski.
Family and friends may gather at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 2 pm until 8 pm with a joint Knights of Columbus and a Parish Prayer Service followed by Full Military Honors by the VFW Post 2496. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church from 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial begins with Rev. Fr. Gerald Okoli officiating.
Internment will be at the Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Saints Catholic School in Alpena in David’s memory.
