Local sports round-up for April 5

Area baseball action is underway!


Alpena lost both games of a doubleheader on the road against Midland yesterday. The Wildcats dropped the first game, 17 to 2, and lost the nightcap, 9 to 1.

Johannesburg-Lewiston defeated Hillman twice, 8 to 1 and 7 to 5.

Rogers City dropped both games of an afternoon twinbill to Gaylord, 8 to 3 and 13 to 6.


Rogers City shut out Gaylord twice, 15 to 0 and 1 to 0.

Hillman won a pair of close games against Johannesburg-Lewiston, 6 to 5 and 5 to 3.

Posen split a doubleheader with Petoskey, losing the first game, 3 to 1 and earning the victory in the second 7 to 6.

Onaway swept Mancelona in two games, 3 to 0 and 11 to 0.


Onaway boys finished first and the girls squad came in third at the  Central Lake Invitational.

Girls Soccer

Alpena, now 1-1 on the season, lost to Gaylord 4 to 0.


Alpena opened the season with an 8-0 sweep of Grayling on the road in Crawford County.
