True North Radio Network is bringing the popular Summer Concert Series back to Alpena’s Bayview Park for a 5th consecutive year!

This season’s lineup features some of the best bands in the nation and one from “down under.”

All of the concerts are free of charge and held on select Saturdays from 6 to 9 p.m., with the exception of the 4th of July concert which will be held on Monday and features the ultimate Eagles tribute band from Nashville, Tennessee.

There will be of free giveaways and fun for the entire family. Plus, this is a Passport to the Arts event, so be sure to bring your passport!

The concert series kicks off on June 11th with Long Reef.  The Australian rock and roll band has toured Australia and England, and is now on tour in the United States.


Saturday, June 11th, Long Reef, direct from Australia.  This band has toured Australia, the UK, and now is on a tour of the United States.  You’ll love their Australian accents and rock and roll.  www.long-reef.com


Saturday, June 18th, Steel Wheels will take the stage. If you are a fan of old classic country favorites or of current cross over driven’ country, Steel Wheels can cover it all.  This band is based in Mid-Michigan and this will be their first stop at the summer concert series.  www.steelwheelsband.com

Saturday, June 25th, Thriller -the ultimate Michael Jackson tribute show.  This band appeared last year at the True North Winter concert series and is back by popular demand.  This electrifying show features vocalist Leon Whittington and the Thriller band performing the King of Pop’s biggest hits.

Monday, July 4th, 7 Bridges – the ultimate Eagles Experience.  This concert will be held from 7 until 10 pm just before the fireworks. Direct from Nashville, you’re invited to listen to this band perform all the great Eagles hits.  Vocally and visually perfect, this band could pass for the real Eagles. Saturday, July 9th, Redhill returns to Alpena. If you were to place country, pop, and rock music into a blender, the result would be the music of Redhill.  They are one of the hottest bands in Detroit.  www.redhillrocks.com

Saturday, July 30th, 7 Million Jigawatts.  This band features Alpena native Melissa Behring.  The play a variety of great party favorites and have a great time with the audience.  This will be one of their first appearances in Michigan following 3 and half months entertaining on Princess Cruise’s lines.  www.7millionjigawatts.com

Saturday, August 6, Tommy K.  This bands salutes and pays tribute to 70’s and 80’s rock.  They put on an energetic and entertaining show.  You’ll be singing along to all the great tunes! www.therockshowband.com

Saturday, August 13th, CP2.  This band was a big hit at the True North New Year’s eve party and returns to Alpena for their first appearance at the Summer Concert Series.  They play a lot of your Top 40 favorites and are looking forward to their return to Alpena.  www.thebandcp2.com
