Children’s Hospital of MI brings safety program to Atlanta

The Children’s Hospital of Michigan is hosting a free child passenger safety training course at the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) maintenance facility in Atlanta.

Citizens who reside or work in Alcona, Crawford, Montmorency, and Oscoda counties are encouraged to sign up by the February 14 deadline.  The safety training program is being offered March 2 – 4.

The training program provides certification in a national standardized Child Passenger Safety Certification Course.  This three-day safety course usually costs $325, but is being offered free to a limited number of participants.

The Office of Highway Safety (OHSP) Planning is providing federal traffic safety funds to cover registration fees and car seats for the event, including some instructor fees.  For more information call 313-320-3556.

Additionally, a free car seat check will be held on Saturday, March 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Atlanta and is open to the public.  Child Passenger Safety technicians will be there to inspect car seats and provide various safety tips.
