Alpena Public Schools is hosting parent – teacher conferences Thursday, at the high school, junior high and Aces Academy.
Although the conferences are open to everyone, teachers sent notes or called individual parents they want to speak with. Parents who would like to meet with a particular teacher are encouraged to attend, between the hours of 4 and 7 p.m.
Elementary parent – teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, March 10. The elementary conferences will also be scheduled on an “as needed” basis but parents may call to arrange a time if they are not contacted by a teacher.
There is no school for all students this Friday, due to a teacher in-service day. The district has laid out a number of presentations for teachers, including information on bloodborne pathogens, bullying, targeted writing, ACT testing and more.
A consultant will speak with secondary teachers about the ACT, the logistics of giving the college entrance exam and more. The presentation coincides with the district’s new focus on better student results on the ACT.
All freshman, sophomores and juniors will participate in a High Stakes Testing day on March 1. Juniors will take the ACT on that day; and freshman and sophomores will take pre-ACT exams.
