The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for portions of Northeast Lower Michigan.
A low pressure system is moving into the region, spreading snow across Northern Michigan this afternoon and into tonight. Bursts of moderate to heavy snow can be expected late this afternoon and evening, with total snow accumulations approaching 5 inches in some areas by Tuesday morning.
The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 4 p.m. this afternoon to 5 a.m. Tuesday for Alcona, Alpena, Iosco, Montmorency, Osocda and Presque Isle counties.
Gusty southeast winds will result in blowing and drifting snow, making travel difficult in some areas.
