Atlanta man busted in internet sex sting

A 57 year-old Montmorency County man has been arrested as part of an undercover Internet sex sting.

Daniel Raab of Atlanta is charged with three counts of disseminating sexually explicit matter to a minor following a 3-day sting in August 2009.  The undercover investigation was conducted by the Michigan Attorney General’s Office, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department and volunteers from an organization that patrols the internet for sexual predators.

Raab became involved in a sexually explicit conversation with a volunteer posing as a 14 year-old girl.  He also sent nude photos of himself.

According to a press release from the attorney general’s office, Raab never traveled to an undercover home to meet the “girl” and was arrested after information was legally obtained through the website Yahoo.  He was arraigned on the charges Friday, in Montmorency County.

Parents are being asked to check their children’s “buddy lists” for the screen name “dan45_m1.”  Anyone who believes his or her child had contact with Raab is asked to contact the attorney general’s office at 313-456-0180.
