An Alpena woman has paid back the money she allegedly stole from Jimmy Chen’s Hunan Chinese Restaurant.

Nancy Kaplan, 47, is charged with embezzlement of $20,000 but less than $50,000.  It is alleged she took about $27,175 from the Chinese restaurant while she was working as a bookkeeper for H & R Block.

Kaplan was in court this week asking for a cobbs evaluation, which would disclose her probable sentence if she pled guilty as charged.  The hearing has been scheduled for November 1.

Kaplan’s attorney has said a possible plea agreement might still be reached with the prosecutor’s office.

Kaplan is accused of taking the money between September 2008 and April 2010.
