The 38th Annual Nautical City Festival kicks off in Rogers City Tuesday, with events designed for both the young and old at heart.

Since its beginning in 1972, the festival has grown in size and scope.  It now features a Texas Hold-em tournament, kiddie parade, teen dance, bingo, an arts and crafts show, a pet show and a wide variety of kids events and activities.

The fun starts Tuesday evening with a 5 p.m. dinner, followed by the Sailor’s Memorial.  Things heat up at Lakeside Park Wednesday night, when True North Radio’s 107.7 The Bay brings the band “Bobbing For Piranhas” to the big tent for a teen dance, from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Music and fun continues Saturday night as 99.9 The Wave brings the “No Baloney” band and a bikini contest to center stage from 8:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

Events wrap up Sunday with craft shows on the courthouse lawn, the Grand Parade down Third Street and fireworks at dusk.
