Alpena 4th of July fireworks

PRESS RELEASE ISSUED FROM CITY OF ALPENA:

WHEN:  July 4th at dusk, which is usually around 10:30 p.m.

WHERE:  Fireworks are launched near the City of Alpena’s Water Treatment Plant and can be viewed from Starlite Beach, Mich-e-ke-wis Park, Blair Street Park, Thomson Park, Bay View Park, the City Marina, as well as other locations in the City of Alpena

In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks display may be postponed and rescheduled for July 5. In the event of cancellation, the sites noted above will be notified, as well as the media.

NOTE: Beginning at noon on Saturday, July 3rd, 2010, and until the end of the fireworks show, the City will enforce an 800 foot perimeter around the fireworks site. The perimeter will be clearly marked. Citizens are requested to stay out of the marked off area for their own safety and to allow a safe working area for the fireworks company.

Alpena city and township offices will both be closed on Monday, July 5 and will re-open on Tuesday, July 6.
