A man accused of threatening Michigan U.S. Rep. Bart Stupak is returning to federal court in Bay City for a detention hearing.
Russell Hesch of West Branch has been in custody since last week.  He and his son, David Hesch of Loveland, Colorado are accused of conspiring to threaten Stupak because of the Democrat’s vote in favor of a health care law.
Federal prosecutors want to keep the 73-year-old Hesch in custody until trial. A hearing is set for Wednesday.
The FBI says a letter threatened to paint the Mackinac Bridge with blood from Stupak and his family.  David Hesch returns to federal court in Denver on Thursday.
