Two young women from northeast lower Michigan will be in Muskegon next week, competing for a chance to become the new Miss Michigan and Miss Michigan Outstanding Teen.

Emily Elizabeth Kieliszewski of Alpena is competing for the title of Miss Michigan.  She will take part in interview, talent, evening wear, on-stage question, and swimwear competitions.  The preliminary rounds of competition begin Tuesday and continue through Thursday with the finals on Saturday.  Kieliszewski’s platform is the D.A.R.E. program, which she spent 2009 promoting when she was crowned the winner of the Miss Sunrise Side competition.

Also competing in Muskegon next week is Alcona High School sophomore Alexandra Marie Kramer, who would like to become Miss Michigan Outstanding Teen 2010.  Kramer is competing against 21 other girls from across the state.  Her platform is V.I.P. Soccer, which provides a positive experience for children whose disabilities make it difficult to participate in mainstream sports.   For talent, she will be performing a flute solo.  The winner will be named next Friday.

Kramer was the winner of the 2009 Miss Sunrise Side Teen competition.
