Ronald Francis Murray

Ronald Francis Murray, 65, of 8475 Northland Avenue, Alpena, passed away at home on Thursday, May 20, 2010, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Ron was born in Jackson, Michigan to MaryJane (LaJoie) Loonsfoot, being adopted and raised by the late Floyd and Hazel (Cousineau) Murray.  He married the former Barbara Fradette on January 21, 1967; she preceded him in death on July 5, 1980.  On July 31, 1982 Ron and Julie Przykucki were married.   He was employed as a storeroom clerk at Abitibi  until retiring June 28, 2006.  While an employee, he was instrumental in coordinating the DPI Fishing Tournaments.
Ron was an accomplished cake decorator, enjoyed roller skating, bowling, and crafts of all kinds.  He was actively involved in church decorating, a former religious education teacher, and earlier was associated with the Monday Night Activity program.
He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Alpena Boosters Club, Alpena K of C 3rd and 4th degree, Monday and Thursday Night Bowling Leagues, past member of Alpena Moose Lodge, Friends of Bill W, and Miracles Happen.
Surviving are his wife, Julie; son, Brian (Jody) Murray; grandsons, Roy and Morgan; mother, MaryJane Loonsfoot; siblings, Theresa (Francis) White, Brenda (Terry) Arlt, Mike (Dawn) Soltysiak, Jean (Russ) Wierenga, Bob Loonsfoot, Alan (Rayetta) Loonsfoot, Rose (Larry) Peznik, Vicky (Art) Frank, Wayne (Florence) Loonsfoot, Kathy (Ken) Curl, Karen Shelby, Cindy (Jerry) Curtis, Mike (Rhonda) Loonsfoot, Christine Loonsfoot, Dawn Loonsfoot, Tim (Kelli) Loonsfoot, Bernice (Garry) Cruzen, Leona (Norman) Peterson, Robert (Carol) Przykucki, Carlene Przykucki, Beverly (David) Baker, Bonnie (Joe) McEwen, Thomas Fradette; mother-in-law, Irene Przykucki; numerous nieces and nephews; and companion and friend, family pet, Little Bear.
Preceding him in death were his stepfather, Ray Kamyszek; foster parents, Shirley and Mickey Soltysiak;  dad, Ernest Loonsfoot; and brother-in-law, Frank Przykucki.
Family and friends may call at the Bannan Funeral Home on Sunday from 12 – 8 p.m.  with a VFW Post 2496 service at 3:00 p.m. and a 4th degree and parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue Monday at St. Bernard Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Greg McCallum and Rev. Joseph Graff officiating.
Interment:  Holy Cross Cemetery
