Frank F. Bahling

Frank F. Bahling, 84, of  Lachine, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at Rolling Acres AFC in Ossineke.
 
Frank was born November 25, 1925 to the late William and Hattie (Kirchoff) Bahling in Wellington Township.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alpena where he married the former Ruth Matzke on June 26, 1948.  They were married for 59 years until her passing on April 13, 2008.  Frank and Ruth spent most of their lives as beef farmers on the old Collins farm in Wellington Twp.  They also owned and operated Frank’s Fruit Market in Long Rapids.  Frank worked at Phelps Collins Air Base as a carpenter for over 20 years, retiring in 1988.  He later worked in the real estate field.
 
Frank was an avid hunter with many stories and trophies to show friends and family.  Later in life he enjoyed keeping horses on the farm.  One of his favorite pastimes was a drive through the Michigan countryside admiring the rich farmland.
 
Frank is survived by 3 sons, Fred Bahling and wife Diann of Pennsylvania, Roger Bahling of Midland, Alan Bahling of Franklin; 3 daughters, Linda (Mrs. James) Hayka of Herron, Caroline (Mrs. Dale) Siegert of Hubbard Lake, Sally (Mrs. Thomas) Krist of Gaylord; daughter-in-law, Kathy Bahling of Lachine; 16 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Harriet Scheller; brother, Ernest and wife Marie Bahling; along with several nieces and nephews and dear friend, Rachel McLaren.
 
Preceding him in death were his son, David Bahling; sisters, Esther DeCare, Dorothy Jacobs, Helen Davis, infant sister, Delight  Bahling; and infant brother, Ervin.
 
Family and friends may call at the Bannan Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-8 p.m.  where funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Arnie Kirchner officiating.
Interment:  Long Rapids Cemetery
