Christopher “Topher” Glen McNaughton, 30, of Alpena, passed away at Alpena Regional Medical Center on Monday, May 17, 2010.  He was born in Alpena on January 2, 1980 to Cathy Nevins.

Chris graduated in 1998 from Alpena High School.  Growing up he was active in 4-H, Boy Scouts, a member of the Alpena Swim Club, and Alpena Hockey Association.  In high school Chris was a member of the Alpena F.F.A. organization.  He worked at Omni Steelcraft until January 2004 due to injuries resulting from an accident.
He was an avid sportsman, a true handyman that could repair/build a vast majority of household construction tasks, enjoyed spending time outdoors camping and fishing with friends and family.  Chris participated in numerous Bump and Run competitions and was well-liked by his peers.
Many people, who knew Chris well throughout the years, realized he would go above and beyond to help a friend or family member in need.  Chris was from a close-knit family that he loved being around.  Christopher loved all animals from lizards, dogs, and horses.
He is survived by his mother, Cathy Nevins; twin brother, Chad (Angie) McNaughton of Dixon, Illinois; sister, Jenna (Nate) Gagnon of Lynchburg, Virginia; brother, Robb Brown of Alpena; nephew, Logan McNaughton; maternal grandmother, Darlene Yarch; aunts Maryette (Steve) Cripps, Brenda (Mike) Morey, Kelli Sumerix; uncle, Howard (Cindy) Nevins; cousins, Sara (Brian) Winter, Brock (Gretchen) Kirschner, Breann (Curtis) Ellis, Courtney (Clint) Tenbarge, Ronda and Ryan Martin, Alexa Morey, Amanda and Ashley Sumerix.
Preceding him in death were his grandfathers, Glen Nevins, Allen Shorkey, and Eugene Yarch.
Visitation will be held at the Bannan Funeral home Wednesday 2-8 p.m.  Funeral service will be Thursday 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Eugene Bacon officiating.
Interment:  Long Rapids Cemetery
