Mr. Bauer

William Frank Bauer (Bill) was welcomed into the arms of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, May 13, 2010 after a brave battle with cancer.

Bill was born December 14, 1932 to Frank and Alice (Flory) in Englewood, NJ.  He served four years in the US Air Force from 1950 to 1954 in Europe.  Most of Bill’s life was spent in Heating & Air Conditioning.  He owned and operated Bauer Heating and Air Conditioning in Marshall, MI before moving to Presque Isle, MI where he was the Branch Manager of Fuel gas for 12 years and Branch Manager of Gaylord Gas.   Bill retired in 1996, but continued to work part-time in the summers with Built on Demand Gutter Solutions and ABC Seamless.  He belonged to the Northeastern Michigan Home Builders Association where he chaired their annual Home Show for the past five years.

Bill loved the Lord Jesus with all of his heart.  He loved his family and had many beloved friends.  When he had time and before he became ill, you would find Bill with a fishing pole and his boat headed out to catch the “big one that got away.”  Bill’s greatest dream was to retire in Florida with his wife Doris and be able to shark fish with his grandchildren.  He was a beloved friend of the late Rev. David M. Nickel.  He wants it known that he thanks Pastor Nickel for leading him to saving faith in Jesus Christ in March of 1997.

Surviving are his wife Doris, whom he married in Marshall, MI on September 22, 1978.  They would have celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary in September of this year.  Also surviving are sons; Steven of Ann Arbor, MI, Jeffrey of Irvine, CA, daughters; Diane of Prescott, AZ, Debbra (Joseph) Maguire of Fort Myers, FL, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Bill Bauer is at McWilliams Funeral Home – Alpena where friends may call on Sunday from 1:00-4:00 PM and on Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM with Rev. James Erickson officiating.  Military honors will be accorded by VFW Post #2496.  Interment will be at Presque Isle Cemetery.   Memorial donations may be made to Immanuel Lutheran New Roof Fund.  Please visit Bill’s personal web page at www.lifestorynet.com where you may share a memory with his family or sign the online guest book.
