PATTERSON, Mary Ellen, 81, of Ossineke, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010 at MediLodge of Hillman following an extended illness

Mary was born March 9, 1929 in Alpena to the late Wesley and Gladys (Badder) Habermehl, graduated from Alpena High School in 1947 and had been a life-long resident of the area.  She married H.M. “Pat” Patterson in June of 1969.  He preceded her in death on April 27, 2007.  She retired from Alpena Public Schools where she worked as an administrative secretary.  Her strengths were as a mother and homemaker extraordinaire, with emphasis on her grandchildren, enjoying the natural wildlife, knitting and her dogs.  Even though her struggle with her illness was long and hard, she touched many lives that are truly blessed for having known her.

Surviving are five children; Denise Rousseau of Alpena, Dr. Jesse Duranceau of Kalamazoo, MI, Donna (Maurice) Tucker of Hillman, Phillip (Deedra) Duranceau of Ossineke, Karen (Ken) Hayes of Alpena, seven grandchildren; Stacie (Keith) Hartman, Nico (Jennifer) Tucker, Eryn (Dan) Petersheim, Kevin Frank, Colleen Frank, Eric Duranceau, Ian Duranceau, seven great-grandchildren; Joshua Crow, Alanna Crow, Brendan Hartman, Evan Tucker-Petersheim, John Petersheim, Kyra Feighner, Aedan Tucker and a sister; Eunice Cruzen of Traverse City, MI.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis (George) Lund, a brother, Wesley Dale Habermehl, an infant sister, Donna and a son-in-law, Randy Rousseau on April 5, 2010.

Mary Patterson is at McWilliams Funeral Home – Alpena where family and friends will gather on Sunday, May 16, 2010 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM to share stories of her life.  Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Sunrise Shore or the Alzheimer’s Association.  Please visit Mary’s personal web page at www.lifestorynet.com where you may share a memory with her family or sign the on-line guest book.
