Lawn-cutting ordinance in affect June 1

Submitted by on May 14, 2010 – 6:22 pmNo Comment

Beginning June 1, residents in the City of Alpena are required to cut their grass at least once a month.

In addition, City ordinance requires grass to be mowed as many other times as necessary to prevent properties from becoming unsightly, noxious, or detrimental to public health and welfare.

The City’s building department has already noticed some lawns that need to be mowed before the ordinance kicks in on June 1.  City officials said they recognize the price of gas and will make every attempt to work with residents in resolving lawn-cutting issues.

For more information contact the building department at 354-1700, extension #5.
