When the autopsies come back on the remaining three victims of a deadly house fire in Mikado, the bodies are expected to be identified as the wife and two young grandchildren of homeowner Dennis Paul Bernard.

The fire occurred during the early morning hours of Friday, April 23.  It destroyed a double-wide mobile home owned by 67 year-old Dennis Bernard and his wife Teresa.  Dennis’s body was identified a few days after the fire, but a positive identification is still pending on the other three victims.

Lisa Blanchard, who lives several houses away from the family, told the Iosco County News Herald the Bernard’s have custody of their two young grandchildren.  Dennis’s wife Teresa and the couple’s grandchildren, Amanda and Teresa, are believed to be the other 3 victims of the fire.

The two girls both attended Alcona Community Schools, where Amanda was in first grade and Teresa in second grade.  Blanchard said the girls went to school with her children.

She also said a man visiting his nearby hunting camp first noticed the flames and ran to her home where she called 911.
