ACC 2010 commencement activities

Alpena Community College graduates from the class of 2010 are ready to strut their stuff.

The annual ACC Commencement festivities begin with the Nurses Pinning Ceremony on Wednesday, at 7 p.m. in Park Arena. This year ACC has 24 RN and 23 LPN candidates.  Various awards of merit and student appreciation awards will also be handed out that evening.

The Honors Breakfast will be held the following morning at the Holiday Inn.  The breakfast event recognizes students who maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or better. The commencement ceremony is being held in Park Arena Thursday, beginning at 7 p.m.  450 students are eligible for graduation.

The Jesse & Anna Besser Awards will be presented to two students who have made outstanding contributions to the life of the college through scholarship, leadership and expression of responsibility in solving social problems.  The Besser awards are the highest recognition of academic achievement given at ACC.

Dave Dziubinski, manager of the Lafarge cement plant in Alpena will be receiving the Fellow of the College award and the Distinguished Alumni award is being presented to Matthew P. Linke – a 1978 graduate of ACC and the Planetarium Director of the Exhibit Museum of Natural History at the University of Michigan.
