Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm has ordered U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff  Friday, to honor a soldier from southern Michigan who was killed in Afghanistan.

Flags are to be lowered for 23-year-old Army Cpl. Michael K. Ingram Jr. of Newport in Monroe County.  He died April 17 in Afghanistan, of wounds suffered after an improvised explosive device detonated near him.

Funeral services are being held today, at the Stewart Road Christian Ministries in Monroe.  Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe.

Ingram was assigned to 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.
