The City of Alpena didn’t fare well in a new ranking of the greenest U.S. cities – evaluated on car shopping behaviors

The survey looked at the buying habits of shoppers for hybrid cars, crossovers and SUV’s.  It was released by Cars.com in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.

In the site’s 3rd annual Green Cities index, San Francisco topped the charts, beating out all other cities based on interest in hybrid vehicles.  Most of the top cities were located out West.

Alpena ranked 207th out of the 210 cities listed.  Lansing, Michigan was number 35 on the list, the best ranking of any city in the state.

Cities in the south, particularly Texas, have the least interest in hybrid vehicles.
