Target Alpena Development Corporation has released its annual report for the fiscal year 2009.

Target assists and supports local businesses and is responsible for attracting new business.  It encourages entrepreneurial growth and had developed new programs that add strength and stability to the area.

During the 2009 operational year, the organization brought in more than $83,000, mostly through public donations.  That was down 17-percent from 2008.  Expenses for the year were about $100 under revenues.  For the rest of 2010, the group will continue to focus on public and private donations, growth of its loan programs and the creation of “fee for services” to build revenue.

In 2009, Target was contacted and served as an information clearinghouse for 70 potential and existing businesses that were in need of assistance and/or business loans.

Director Lee Shirey remains confident the organization’s efforts will lead to a stronger more stabile local economy.  In 2010, the group will focus its limited resources to promote economic gardening and land, policy and infrastructure development.
