The American Red Cross is trying to bolster blood supplies in the region by hosting four blood drives this week.
In addition to the 700 units of blood needed each day to meet patient needs across the Great Lakes Region, the American Red Cross also provides relief to victims of disaster, trains millions in lifesaving skills, serves as a communication link between U.S. military members and their families, and assists victims of international disasters or conflicts.
Three blood drives are being held on Tuesday, including one at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Herron. The other two are being held at the Oscoda American Legion Post and the National Guard Armory in Cheboygan. All three drives are being held from noon to 5:45 p.m.
On Wednesday, donors can roll up their sleeve for another blood drive being held from 11:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Alpena.
