Monday is the deadline to register to vote in the May 4 elections.
To register, applicants must be at least 18 years old by Election Day and be U.S. citizens.  They must also be residents of Michigan and of the city or township in which they wish to register.
Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land says residents can register in person at Secretary of State branch offices or their local city, village or township clerk’s office.

Residents may also register by mail. But those voting for the first time must cast their ballot in person unless they hand-deliver the application to their local clerk, are aged 60 or older, disabled or eligible to vote under the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act.
