Nearly 300 members of the steelworkers union – local 204, and Alpena Regional Medical Center have reached a second tentative contract agreement.

The first agreement was overwhelmingly voted down on March 8, 240-40.  Local 204 employees are spread through the hospital, including such departments as x-ray, medical records, the business office, home health care, housekeeping, plant operations and more.

According to an insider who wishes to remain anonymous, some sticking points in the first contract included losses in wages and benefits, contract language and an un-paid lunch period that has employees concerned about coverage in the event of an emergency.

The two sides reached the second tentative agreement on March 22.  It will be presented to union members on April 6 with a vote on April 8.
