Michigan State Police in Alpena and the Huron Undercover Narcotics Team (HUNT) are joining forces on another controlled substance collection effort.
On Wednesday April 7, authorities will be accepting unwanted or unused controlled drugs at the State Police Post on M-32, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Going forward, HUNT and State Police have agreed to set up the collection on the first Wednesday of every month.
Non-Controlled drugs can be dropped off anytime at a large number of pharmacies across northeast lower Michigan. A complete list of participating pharmacies can be found at www.greatlakescleanwater.org.
The Great Lakes Clean Water Organization has established the Yellow Jug Old Drugs program to keep unwanted drugs out of our water. Currently there are 44 participating pharmacies in Michigan.
