Michigan has a new Governor and her name is Gretchen Whitmer.

Whitmer outlasted Republican challenger Bill Schuette during Tuesday’s General Election.

Michigan voters also approved recreational marijuana and two other statewide proposals Tuesday.

Incumbent U.S. Congressman Jack Bergman will serve a second term after defeating Democrat Matthew Morgan.  And U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow will serve a fourth term after beating Republican John James.

Michigan’s new Attorney General is Democrat Dana Nessel.  Jocelyn Benson, also a Democrat, is the new Secretary of State.

Looking at some regional races in northeast Michigan, Senator Jim Stamas won reelection, as did State Representative Sue Allor.  Both Stamas and Allor won by wide margins over their Democratic opponents.

All results are unofficial.
