God called the soul of Patricia Jane (Magin) Thompson home on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 while surrounded by her loving family.

Pat entered this world on August 12, 1925. She was born to the late Richard and Frances Magin at their home on 1014 Merchant Street in Alpena, MI. She was a student at St Mary’s Catholic School and a 1943 cum laud graduate of Alpena High School where she proudly never missed a day of school. Upon graduation she was selected to work for the Army and US Engineers at Phillips Collins Air Base during WWII.

She married Turley Nevin Thompson (T.N.T.) at St Mary Catholic Church on June 29, 1946 after his return from the Navy. Patricia & Turley were blessed with nine children and while raising their children she continued to be committed to a number of causes. She was active in the Ossineke Chamber of Commerce, the Sanborn School PTA, and St Catherine Catholic Church. She held all offices in the Altar Society, worked in the Vicariate with Study Clubs, and the Christian Family Movement in the diocese after which she and Turley brought that program to the Alpena area. At the request of Fr. Theodore LaMarre, she started the St. Catherine’s Youth Group and was involved in it for many years. She was also the St Catherine’s Religious Education Program coordinator for many years and taught CCD class while her children were growing up.

Pat also continued to work and was the Ossineke news reporter for the Alpena News for 30 years, a real-estate agent, and a notary. She was employed for 10 years at the MESC office in Alpena from which she retired.

After retirement Patricia and Turley traveled extensively in their historical GMC converted 4104 bus. They covered the continental USA, all the Provinces of Canada, and made two trips to Alaska. Prior to that they explored five European countries together. God gave them the privilege of celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary in June of 2001 shortly before Turley passed away on September 13, 2001.

Patricia is survived by her nine children: Timothy & Darlene Thompson, Mark & Marie Thompson, Francie & Duane Szymanski, Glen & Roxanne Thompson, Mary & Allan Wirgau, Ann & Ron Martin, Jeffry Thompson, Karl Thompson, and Becky & Karl Schroeder.
