Suspect arrested in Cheboygan for stealing guns & ammo

A 22 year-old Carp Lake man was arrested in Cheboygan Wednesday, for allegedly stealing five guns and approximately 3,000 rounds of ammunition.

According to the Michigan State Police Gaylord Post, troopers were sent to a residence in Carp Lake Township Wednesday morning after the homeowner reported four rifles and a shotgun where stolen out of his house, along with the ammunition.

The 22 year-old Carp Lake man was identified as a possible suspect and was eventually located at a residence in Cheboygan.  He was taken into custody without incident and charged with ten counts of larceny, along with malicious destruction of property.  His name is being withheld pending arraignment.

Troopers were assisted by officers from the Cheboygan Department of Public Safety and the Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Office.
