Two Alpena area students have been awarded financial assistance to continue their pursuits with careers in the field of human medicine.

Smith received the DesOrmeau and Kramer scholarships for a total award of $1,500.  She is a 2013 graduate of Alpena High School, a 2015 graduate of Alpena Community College, and is now in an accelerated second degree program at Oakland University pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

Snow received the Aliferis Medical scholarship in the amount of $1,000.  He is in the Doctoral Program at the MSU College of Human Medicine and plans on doing a large portion of his third and fourth years of clinical practice at MidMichigan Medical Center – Alpena.

Funding these scholarships are generous personal donations made by Bill and Mary DesOrmeau, June Kramer and Carlene Aliferis.

The scholarship program at MidMichigan Medical Center – Alpena began in 2002 and has since awarded $68,500 in healthcare scholarships to local students.
